Roald Dahl Day: The people of Nottingham tell us why they love the unforgettable author

Today is Roald Dahl day, a day to celebrate what would have been the 100th birthday of the iconic author.

Roald Dahl is remembered for a number of classic children’s novels such as ‘The BFG’, ‘Matilda’, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and ‘ The Twits’ to name a few.

The unforgettable author has sold an estimated 200 million copies of his books worldwide over a career that has spanned six decades and his works have been translated into 58 different languages.

Dahl continues to warm the hearts of all generations, and today Nottingham celebrated his magical tales, which at times are dark and eerie and always carry a deeper moral message.

Notts TV spoke to the people of Nottingham who told us what their favourite tales are and why they love Roald Dahl, who according to one woman is “an amazing man, such a prolific writer”.
