A theatre group is putting on a show that squeezes 11 Shakespeare plays into just one two-hour performance.

Bear Left Theatre Company’s production kicks off tonight (Wednesday April 26) at Lee Rosy’s Tea and runs for three nights before finishing with a matinee performance at the College Street Centre on Saturday (April 29).

Director Sally Nix said they are trying to plug a gap of purely entertaining shows.

She said: “It’s a little taster of Shakespeare, so it’s all different scenes put together in a two hour show, so we’ve chosen our favourite bits from 11 different plays.

“We’re showing that Shakespeare is for everyone – it’s funny, it’s dramatic, it’s dangerous.

“It fills a hole because a lot of amateur groups do a lot of the obscure plays that most people may not have heard of and other companies tend to do bums on seats ones which tend to be done a lot.

“For me it’s making sure the audience enjoys themselves.”
