Det Ch Insp Karen Pearson said: “It is very out of character for Mr Bugg to go missing.
“He has had no contact with family or friends and has not attended work – all of which is causing concern for those who know him.
“We have a large number of officers and specialist teams working to try and locate Mr Bugg today.”
Friend Craig Glover wrote on Facebook, saying security cameras had revealed clues as to where Michael headed after the leaving the bar.
He said: “On CCTV it shows Michael leaving the Southbank bar and walking left towards West Bridgford, we have had search parties out looking and will continue to do so, someone somewhere must know something.
“Please if anybody was out drinking in West Bridgford on Saturday night try and think back, – did you see him walking home towards Silverdale, we think he would have gone down Loughborough Road, then onto Wilford Rd towards Silverdale.
“His family, partner, daughter and friends are very concerned.”
Det Ch Insp Pearson added: “We are asking for anybody who may have heard from him to get in touch. We are also asking for people maybe out walking dogs in the area to keep an eye out.
“We would also urge everyone to look at the picture of Mr Bugg and to let us know if they have seen him since the last sighting.”
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Notts Police on 101 quoting incident number 902 of August 21.
