Video: Notts TV’s Owen Shipton goes mushroom hunting
Notts TV’s Owen Shipton has gained rare access to a part of the Attenborough Nature Reserve where mushrooms are growing.
Owen went mushroom hunting with the author of Field Guide to the Mushrooms of Britain and Europe Alison Linton.
She is concerned that not enough people are aware of fungi and that more needs to be done to protect it.
We would like to see fungi protected more
Alison said: “It’s my first trip into this part of the nature reserve – it’s peaceful, undisturbed and it’s incredibly tranquil.
“We would like to see fungi protected a little more than they are, for instance when greenbelt land is built on and allotments are concreted over, that destroys their natural habitat.
“The more people that are fungi aware, the better it is.”
