Sir Tony Robinson, aka Baldrick in Blackadder, is coming to Nottingham

Sir Tony Robinson will appear at Waterstones, in Nottingham.

Sir Tony Robinson, who played Baldrick in comedy show Blackadder, will be in Nottingham on Saturday to talk about his new autobiography.

The actor will be at Waterstones, in Bridlesmith Gate, to meet fans and also sign copies of his new book, No Cunning Plan.

Sir Tony, who has also starred in Time Team, will be at the store from around 6.30pm and will talk as part of a question and answer session.

Daniel Donson, events manager at Waterstones Nottingham, said: “The booksellers here are very much looking forward to the event, and meeting a character quite rightly now regarded as something of a national treasure.

“For us, it’s the event of the year and, for me personally, it will be quite an honour to interview him on stage in the Sillitoe Room.”

In his long-awaited memoir, Sir Tony, who has had a stellar career lasting more than 50 years, reveals how the boy from South Woodford went from child stardom in the first stage production of Oliver!, to comedy icon Baldrick, the loyal servant and dedicated turnip aficionado in Blackadder.

Donson added: “His many roles and appearances have been in some of my favourite TV shows of all time, not least the children’s show Maid Marian and Her Merry Men, but we also share passionate interests in history and the archaeological history of Britain.”

Tickets are £5 from Waterstones, Bridlesmith Gate, Nottingham.
