Hundreds who turned out in Nottingham to see the amazing scenes of the solar eclipse were not disappointed thanks to the clear skies and sunny weather.
It is the first solar eclipse to be seen in Nottingham in 16 years. It started at 8.30am and peaked at 9.30 am.
Although the total eclipse was only visible in the Faroe Islands, people watching in the city could see a partial solar eclipse and thanks to the sunny weather Nottingham had one of the best views in the country.
Many people took to the streets to watch the solar event and for people who didn’t have protective glasses it could be watched via the University of Nottingham’s live stream.
There have only been eight total solar eclipses that could be seen from Britain in 500 years and another will not be seen until 2090.
In London people were not so lucky, with many taking to social media to vent their frustration at the lack of visibility due to the weather.
So the best place to view the partial solar eclipse if you're in London appears to be…on the telly.
