The M1 Southbound in Nottinghamshire has re-opened after a day of disruption and damage caused by Storm Doris.
Debris fell from a gantry over the motorway and engineers and firefighters ordered the closure while they made repairs and safety checks.
At first three of four lanes on the M1 southbound were shut between junctions 26 and 25 near Trowell around lunchtime.
But the southbound side was closed completely just before 5pm and northbound was reduced to one lane.
Motorists were advised to avoid the route completely for some six hours before the route re-opened in full around 7pm.
Elsewhere in Nottingham Alfreton Road has also now re-opened after it was briefly closed around 3pm because of glass falling from a derelict building.
