A treehouse in Netherfield has been shortlisted in a competition which could see it crowned the best in the UK.

The Center Parcs UK Top Treehouse competition is a search for the best amateur garden treehouse in the UK and the entry from the Carroll family has made the shortlist.

The treehouse is made out of fence panels, branches and an old stained glass front door.

It brings out the inner child in you

Owner of the treehouse John Carroll said: “My wife bought me a book on how to build treehouses for Valentine’s Day and it erupted from there really.

“The smiles I’ve seen some of the adults have when they’ve seen the treehouse are quite funny as it brings out the inner child in you; they want to go in and have a cup of tea.

“The kids really enjoy and appreciate the treehouse as well.”

It’s the best treehouse in the world

The treehouse is the ‘second home’ of John’s daughters Daisy and Phoebe, who help to decorate the treehouse by drawing on the walls.

Phoebe said: “It’s the best treehouse in the world.

“There’s a pin the tail on the donkey game in there and we colour whatever we like.”
