Two teenagers have been charged after a man was left with a stab wound in a Morrisons car park in Newark.
Louis Macanally and Shaun Saunders, both aged 18, appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (February 5) and were remanded in custody until March 5 2025 when they are due to attend Nottingham Crown Court.
Three people were arrested on the night of the incident, with the third man, an 18-year-old who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, released on bail.
The assault occurred on Monday (February 3), in the car park at Morrisons supermarket, in King’s Road at around 10.30pm.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital with a stab wound which is not believed to be life-threatening.
Both teenagers, who are both of King’s Road, Newark, were charged with committing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.
Detective Inspector James Oakton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Although incidents of this nature understandably cause concern in communities we believe this was an isolated incident.
“Our investigation has been robust and these two suspects have been placed before magistrates at the earliest opportunity.”
