The video is believed to have been filmed at Sandby Halls of Residence.

Two men and a woman have been released under investigation by police investigating a video which appeared to show a student being racially abused inside her Nottingham Trent University halls of residence.

The two 18-year-old men were arrested on Thursday morning on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences after the footage was posted on Twitter on Wednesday night.

An 18-year-old woman was interviewed in connection with the incident, but not arrested. All have now been release while police conduct further enquiries.

The video, Tweeted on Wednesday night, was recorded by student Rufaro Chisango as she stood behind the door of her room in halls of residence. A number of men could be heard shouting “we hate the blacks” from the other side.

Nottingham Trent University says it has suspended two students while it conducts its own investigation.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “The incident is being treated as a hate crime.

“We are continuing our investigation and will continue speaking to witnesses over the coming days and working with the university.

“‎We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen, heard or witnessed the incident.”
