A three-year-old girl needed the help of firefighters, including ‘the odd cuddle’, to be cut free after getting her hands stuck in a toy vending machine in Chilwell.
Crews were called to the machine inside Matalan at Chilwell Retail park on Bank Holiday Monday.
The girl, named Daisy, had both hands wedged inside the dispensing chute, and crews took just over an hour to free her using specialist equipment.
A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called out a number of times over the Bank Holiday and this was a more unusual incident.”
Acting Watch Manager Pete Hopkins added: “This was a challenging entrapment, with a distressed little girl. She has managed to wedge both her hands fully in the vending machine. We used lots of equipment, including the odd cuddle, to free her without injury.”
A Technical Rescue Unit from Highfields Fire Station was also called to help with the rescue.
