Two men have been sentenced to a combined total of eight years in prison after stealing a large amount of Christmas presents from a house in Strelley.
Kieron Larcombe, 28, of Hanslope Crescent and James Meller, 28, of Lindfield Road, both in Nottingham, pleaded guilty to attempted burglary and burglary on Wednesday (June 14) at Nottingham Crown Court following a trial.
Following this, they both pleaded guilty to vehicle interference after they had been captured on CCTV looking through an insecure car parked on a private driveway in Wollaton.
The judge sentenced them each to four years in prison.
Detective Constable Paul Jaycock of Nottinghamshire Police said: “This is a good result for these burglaries.
“People might not think it a major incident but this had a huge impact on the families involved.
“The result sends the message out that burglary and theft of any type will not be tolerated.
“I’d like to thank all the officers involved who worked tirelessly as a team to link these incidents together and gathered some really strong evidence which contributed to the length of sentencing.”
The two men had been caught on CCTV trying to break into another property in Strelley on December 11 2016.
Enquiries began into identifying the two men.
On December 21, officers were called to the Strelley area again where around £2,000 worth of Christmas presents had been stolen from a house along with £500 in cash and some electrical items.
The two men were challenged by the occupant and ran off, one of them leaving behind their mobile phone which led to their arrests.
