A man and a woman have both been charged with historical sex offences alleged to have taken place 30 years ago.

Dean Gathercole, 52, of Westcliffe Avenue, Radcliffe-on-Trent was charged with six counts of indecent assault and two counts of rape yesterday (Wednesday May 24).

The charges, all against one victim, were in relation to incidents which took place in 1987 at Amberdale Observation and Assessment Centre in Stapleford.

An investigation by Notts Police, Operation Equinox, brought the allegations forward and Gathercole will appear in Nottingham Magistrates Court on June 22.

Miriam Bampkin, 60, of Ripley Road, Belper, was also charged following an investigation under Operation Equinox and is due to appear in court today (Thursday May 25).

Bampkin was charged with one indecent assault on a boy under 16-years-old and one charge of indecent assault on a boy over 16-years-old.

Both incidents occurred at the same location.
