A regional major crime unit has taken over from Notts Police in investigating a murder inquiry in St Ann’s.

A community leader says the victim was attacked with a knife.

Officers were called to the Premier Express store in Robin Hood Street just before 9.30pm last night (Wednesday March 22).

A man was found outside the shop and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre but later died from his injuries.

Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Police did not say what type of injuries the man suffered, but community campaigner Marcellus Baz, who runs Nottingham School of Boxing in St Ann’s, said that he understood the man had been attacked with a knife.

Robin Hood Street has been closed off at its junctions with Roden Street, Promenade, Stonebridge Road and Campbell Street while investigations continue.

A woman who did not wish to be named said: “It’s typical something like this would happen here, I feel like it happens all the time unfortunately.”
