Video: CCTV shows the man stuffing cigarettes into a builder’s sack.
Police have released a video of a robber jumping over the counter to grab cigarettes – shouting ‘I’m so sorry’ at terrified staff.
The incident happened at the Co-op on Maws Lane, Kimberley, at 7.45am on January 11.
The man jumped over the counter of the shop and started to shove cigarettes into the large builder’s sack he was carrying.
A struggle then took place between the staff and offender, which made him flee empty handed.
In the CCTV clip, the suspect is heard shouting ‘I’m sorry, I’m so sorry’ as he helps himself to stock.
The man is described as white, aged 20-30, between 5 ft 8 ins and 5 ft 9 ins, of medium build with blue eyes.
He covered his face with a dark-coloured scarf and had his hood pulled up.
He was wearing grey jogging bottoms, a dark-coloured hooded top and gloves as well as carrying his Rhino-branded builder’s sack.
