Villagers still clearing up after pipe burst leaves Notts homes without water

Villagers have told how their community came together to help people left flooded out when a huge water main pipe burst in a quiet Notts street.

Parts of Epperstone were left drenched on Sunday when the pipe failed in Chapel Lane, creating a huge sink hole.

A car crashed into the dip and engineers spent hours repairing the damage to get water flowing again to around 15,000 homes in east Nottinghamshire.

Besides Epperstone, Lowdham, Radcliffe-on-Trent, Bingham and Flintham were among the areas affected.

Severn Trent said by Monday all properties had services restored, with some having been without water for more than 12 hours.

Kate Chaplin reports on the ongoing clean-up in Epperstone.
