Performance artists from Nottinghamshire have the chance to perform alongside one of Ireland’s biggest bands, KILA, in the first ever Walesby Forest Festival.
The organisers are inviting fringe artists and community groups, including musicians, dance groups, choirs, craftsmen, and street entertainers to perform and contribute in the festival’s Fringe event with a free performance pass.
The festival will take place in Sherwood Forest between August 28 and 31 where visitors will be able to combine outdoor activities such as archery with the vibrant music scene.
Damien Barber, Creative Director at Walesby Forest Festival, said: “We’re really excited to launch Walesby Forest Festival at Sherwood Forest and are currently finalising a full programme of events which is guaranteed to excite visitors of all ages.
“We’re keen to invite fringe artists and community groups along to the event to showcase their skills to a large, welcoming and captive audience.
“As well as free entry, groups and solo artists will be able to contribute to the Walesby Festival Fringe event, plus the opportunity to run their own informal workshop sessions to festival guests.”
A full programme of acts is being finalised, but already confirmed are KILA who are flying in from Ireland and one of the country’s most exciting bands.
KILA provided the soundtrack for Oscar nominated Irish film, Song of the Sea, and in 2014 headlined the St Patrick’s Day celebrations at Trafalgar Square in London.
