Training ahead of next week’s Aegon Open in Nottingham, one of the world’s top female tennis players arrived at the session on her skateboard.

American Lauren Davis, ranked as the 26th best female player in the world, is the fourth highest ranked player at the tournament and will take on the likes of British number one and world number seven Johanna Konta at the Nottingham Tennis Centre in Lenton.

Nottingham has been preparing its courts to host the first grass tournament of the season with 10 of the world’s top 50 female players in action.

Lauren said: “The French Open at Roland Garros wasn’t my best as my opponent played a great match and I went out in the first round.

“It was a cool experience though being at Roland Garros, it’s one of my favourite tournaments with it being a Grand Slam.

“I learned some things and have taken those away and will grow and get better from that situation.”

Lauren will apply some of the lessons learnt as the grass court season gets underway at Nottingham.

She said: “I just need to continue to tell myself to stay focused on the process and enjoy myself.

“It’s easy to get sidetracked from that which I think is the most important thing to think about.”
