Video: Notts TV’s Bobbie Hall checks out the new Nottingham Street Food Club
A new indoor street food market opens its doors to the public tomorrow and Notts TV was granted early access to see if it tickled our taste buds.
Nottingham Street Food Club is on the upper mall of the Victoria Centre with the 150-seater venue featuring four hot food stalls and a bar, all run by local independent traders.
Among the traders will be former MasterChef contestant Pete Hewitt, who runs Homeboys, an Asian street food business.
Manager of the club, Simba Muganiri said: “Pete’s here on a month’s residency and he’s among some of the things that are here for everyone.
“Street food is simply food you get on the street, from street vendors, and it’s us bringing those vendors in here into one place.
“It’s something quick and easy – what we’re trying to create is not a cocktail bar and not a restaurant but something in between where people can come and eat while relaxing and experiment with food.
“It gives opportunity to more independents which is what we’re all about, giving them the platform they wouldn’t have.”
The Clock Tower dining area was built in 2015 as part of a £40m refurbishment of the shopping centre.
