Notts County manager Stuart Maynard says getting back into the habit of scoring first in home games will unlock better form at Meadow Lane.

County host Harrogate Town at home tomorrow (Saturday, October 26) at 3pm, and are looking to improve their results on home soil.

Both of the Magpies two league losses so far this season have been 0-1 defeats at the Lane, against Gillingham and Port Vale.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Maynard said: “At home I don’t think we’ve had that bit of luck that we’ve probably needed at home to get our noses in front and then make it really difficult for the opposition.

“Once we get in front here, it’s very hard for teams to get back into the game here because the crowd get up and going and and then we play at a totally different tempo.”

Maynard also spoke of the squad’s ability to score at any point in the game and even mount comebacks in recent fixtures.

He said: “I think we’ve got that calmness this season, definitely that when we go behind, we’ve been behind probably four or five times now and we’ve shown that we can come back with that calmness.

“Sometimes when you go behind, you can be rushed and it becomes a bit frantic, but we’ve shown that we’ve we’ve stuck to the game plan.

“It’s a little bit frustrating sometimes the types of goals that we’ve conceded, but we’re working hard on the training ground to rectify that.”

Although Harrogate Town are currently placed 16th, 13 places below the Magpies, Maynard said: “I think league tables only really matter once you start getting to the back end.

“Points become so valuable that at this stage, we take one game at a time and our most important game now is at home and every game we go into, like I’ve said, we want three points and we believe every game we go into we can get three points.”
