An investigation has been launched following a collision with a pedestrian and police car on Wednesday (January 11) evening.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating Nottinghamshire Police over the incident, which happened near to the Whitemoor tram stop in Basford at around 6.45pm.

A woman was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre but the extent of her injuries are not yet known.

Wilkinson Street was closed after the crash but has since re-opened.

An IPCC spokesman said: “We were notified by Nottinghamshire Police yesterday evening of a road traffic incident in Nottingham in which a police vehicle collided with a woman pedestrian.

“We deployed investigators straight away to carry out an assessment, and have since begun an independent investigation into the circumstances of the collision.”

A spokesman from Nottinghamshire Police said further details about the incident will be released shortly.
