All pupils from The Farnborough Academy have been banned from the Wilko’s store in Clifton after a number of pupils stole from the shop in their uniform.

The Farnborough Academy which has over 1,000 pupils has been told by the store in Southchurch Drive that they are no longer allowed inside Wilko’s.

The shop says this is due to the 14 thefts that have been reported to Nottinghamshire Police since January.

A spokesperson for the store said: “We pride ourselves on supporting the communities in which we serve and are working with the school for a long term solution with this issue.”

Parents and residents in the area don’t agree with the stores decision to ban all of the students.

The Deputy Head Teacher of the Farnborough Academy, Ben Chaloner said: “It is a shame one or two pupils are ruining it for the rest. We are of course working closely with Wilko’s to ensure these incidents do not happen again.”

The spokesperson for Wilko’s said: “Along with other Clifton retailers we have suffered increasing instances of theft and verbal abuse of our security staff. We have held a number of meetings with the school concerned and this is their suggested and preferred solution.”
