A Wollaton GP is being erased from the medical register that allows him to practice after calling patients ‘f******’ and ‘pieces of s***’.

Dr Khashayar Ghaharian was found to have called his receptionist as a ‘cockerel c***’ and ‘thick’.

In a tribunal report made public by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS), he was also found to have insulted a doctor at another practice, saying he ‘hated him and hope he f****** died’.

It comes after protests took place in February against the closure of his single GP practice at Wollaton Vale Health Centre.

A group of 50 patients of Dr Ghaharian protested outside the city centre offices of NHS Nottingham City Clinical Commissioning Group, responsible for administering healthcare services in Nottingham, off Park Row.

Dr Ghaharian operated at Wollaton Vale Health Centre and indicated he was retiring but a decision has been made by the CCG to close the practice rather than allocate it to another doctor.

His single-GP practice at the centre closed on February 28 and patients were allocated to alternative doctors.

An entirely separate practice which is in the same building, Deer Park Family Medical Practice, is not affected.

The service report, published on Friday (March 31), addressed Paul Williams, a representative from the General Medical Council, which sets standards for students and doctors, saying: “You submitted that erasure is the only means of protecting the public.

“You accepted that there are no clinical concerns in this case but stated that, by his actions, Dr Ghaharian had shown a blatant disregard for the safeguards designed to protect members of the public and maintain high standards within the profession.

“In reference to Dr Ghaharian’s proven dishonesty you stated that it had persisted over a long period of time, in a number of different situations and has been maintained to this day.

“You submitted that taking no action, or imposing conditions, on Dr Ghaharian’s registration would be inappropriate.

“You further stated that suspension would be inappropriate as there is clear evidence that Dr Ghaharian is unlikely to remediate his misconduct because of his lack of engagement at the latter stages of this hearing and the fact that he has an utter lack of insight.”

The tribunal agreed with Mr Williams and decided to erase Dr Ghaharian from the General Medical Council register.

The report said: “Dr Ghaharian has not acknowledged any wrongdoing on his part.

“The tribunal has previously stated its conclusion that Dr Ghaharian had shown no insight into his conduct and that, therefore, it is not satisfied that he would not repeat his misconduct in the future.

“The effect of the foregoing direction is that, unless Dr Ghaharian exercises his right of appeal, his name will be erased from the Medical Register 28 days from the date on which written notice of this decision is deemed to have been served upon him.”

Dr Ghaharian could not immediately be reached for comment.
