A 33-year-old woman has been arrested in Derby in connection with the Nottingham Station fire.

The woman, who was arrested early today (February 2) on suspicion of arson, is currently in custody, British Transport Police announced.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers are continuing to appeal for information.

The fire began in the women’s toilet block at the station early in the morning of Friday, January 12.

It caused substantial damage to part of the new Southern Concourse area, and spread to a wooden walkway, although no-one was seriously hurt and the station re-opened the next day after an operation involving dozens of firefighters.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Senior investigating officer, Det Insp Granville Sellers, would particularly like to speak to anyone who was at Nottingham railway station between 5am and 6.30am on Friday 12 January, who may have seen something or somebody which caught their attention.

“It may have seemed insignificant at the time but it could prove vital to the investigation.”
