Woman dies after crash between bus and pedestrian in Nottingham city centre

A woman has died after a crash between a bus and a pedestrian in Nottingham city centre.
Emergency services were called to Lower Parliament Street at 6.05am today (Tuesday, October 22) after the collision.
The pedestrian, a woman in her thirties, was treated at the scene but died a short time later.
Her family will now be supported by specially trained officers.
The road has been closed between Milton Street and Glasshouse Street for investigation work and Nottinghamshire Police say it will remain so “for some time”.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
Chief Inspector Dean Gallacher, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a tragic incident and we are currently working to understand exactly what happened.
“The road will remain closed for some time as investigation work is carried out and we advise drivers to avoid the area until further notice.”
Roads across the city centre were blocked off while investigations take place, including buses diverting away from Parliament Street.
Milton Street can be accessed from Upper Parliament Street, but buses, cars and pedestrians can’t access George Street.
