Woman dragged along pavement and knocked unconscious in attempted robbery

The robbery took place at 10:15am on the 15th of October 2024 on Willowbridge Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield.

A woman was dragged along the ground and knocked unconscious during an attempted bag snatch in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

It happened at around 10.15am on Tuesday, October 15 while the victim was walking along Willowbridge Lane.

Notts Police say the suspect was on a red pushbike when he cycled past and grabbed her bag. The victim fell and was dragged several feet along the pavement before being knocked out.

The would-be robber left the scene empty handed, while the victim was left with bruising and is said to have been very shaken by the incident.

Detective Constable Lisa Shields, of Notts Police, said: “Thankfully the victim was not seriously hurt but understandably has found the ordeal extremely upsetting.

“While we appreciate the [CCTV] image is not completely clear, we believe there are people who will know who the cyclist is.

“Likewise, there may be people who have information about the incident, or dashcam, doorbell, CCTV or mobile phone footage, which could assist officers.”

Detectives are analysing CCTV footage and going house-to-house, as well as offering the victim support.

The suspect was wearing a black hooded jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms and trainers.
