A woman was shot in the arm after a gunman opened fire on a Nottingham city centre street.

The woman was hurt on Fletcher Gate at around 10.20pm on Saturday (November 3) after a man on a motorbike opened fire before riding off.

Police say her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. She was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment.

Fletcher Gate was closed and a police cordon put in place close to the Lace Market car park, affecting tram and bus services on Saturday morning.

Superintendent Paul Winter, of Notts Police, said: “Officers were quickly on the scene in large numbers and there will be a big visible presence in the area as we investigate the incident and maintain public safety.

“Police officers will remain in the area to ensure that there is no further risk to the public as a result of this incident and we are already following up a number of lines of enquiry.”

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 952 of November 3, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
