Mini fanatics transport their cars from all over the world to get their classic Minis fixed at Surf Blue Garage in Eastwood.
The modern version of the Mini has only been on the roads since 2001 and you can take it to virtually any garage in the world to get fixed.
Many of the classic Minis that were built in 1959 are still on the road, but it’s hard to find parts and a garage to fix them. However Nottinghamshire has a centre that only specialises in the classic car.
And Mini enthusiasts come to Surf Blue Garage from all over the world to get their cars fixed.
Video: David Price, Owner of Surf Blue Garage.
David Price started working at the garage in 2009 as an apprentice, but in 2011 everything changed when the previous owner Geoff retired and passed the business on to him.
Surf Blue Garage has been trading for over 12 years and the team has up to 40 years worth of experience with these classic cars.
Brief history of the Classic Mini:
1959 – 1961: The first production of the Austin Se7en, two models available: the Basic and the De Luxe in Farina Grey, Tartan Red or Speedwell Blue.
1999: The last 500 of the ‘Classic Cooper Sport’ models manufactured.
2000: The last classic Mini built was at Longbridge and was a Red Cooper Sport.
Surf Blue Garage plans to keep the classic Mini alive for many more years to come as they continue to work to keep these cars on the road.
