Yellow weather warning in place for Nottingham

A yellow weather warning has been put in place for the next 48 hours for the whole of Nottinghamshire.

A band of thunderstorms are pushing up from the south and are likely to bring some torrential downpours, which could lead to more than 70mm falling in some areas in just a few hours.

As a result, a yellow warning for localised flooding has been put into force by the Met Office.

The warning that is in force is also for the possibility of lightning and hail, which could lead to disruption.

The Met Office are asking the public to be aware of the “significant risk” of these storms.
