Notts TV has gained exclusive access to the original Southwell Bramley apple tree that is dying from a fungal infection.

The tree has stood tall for over 200 years and provided the world with the first Bramley cooking apples, commonly used in fruit pies and tarts.

However the tree is expected to last only two or three more years as it has an incurable fungus.

This has been a part of my life since I was six

Owner Coulson Howard said: “Of course we are sad but it is a very very old tree.

“We moved here when I was around six years old; we were renting locally and my Aunt owned number 73 which this was in the garden of at the time when we moved in.

“Ever since then this has been a part of my life.”
