Man’s body found in River Trent near Victoria Embankment

Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in the River Trent at the Victoria Embankment in Nottingham.

Officers say the body was found submerged at at around 8.15am on Wednesday after a member of the public alerted the police.

A Notts Police spokesman said: “An underwater search team has been working to safely recover the body this morning and the area has been cordoned off while investigations continue.”

The body is yet to be identified and a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out to try to establish the cause of death.
