Tram tracks man 100 years old uncovered during redevelopment work at the front of Nottingham Station have been donated to a museum.

Nottingham City Council has donated some of the tracks to Crich Tramway Village to go on display at the National Tramway Museum.

The tracks are thought to be part of the city’s very first tram network from the early 20th century.

Finding these old tram tracks is not unusual

A City Council spokesman said: “We have donated some of the tram tracks to Crich Tramway Village and the rest we have put into storage with a view to be recycled if nobody wants them.

“Finding these old tram tracks is not unusual when we’re working on the city’s roads and where possible, we will leave them in the ground.

“When we do have to remove them, we will in the first instance try to offer them to interested parties.

“We did this with tram tracks we found in Station Street earlier in the project, with the Central Railway at Ruddington taking them to use as part of a display for a refurbished tram.”
