Temperatures continue to plummet after snow covers Notts

Nottingham’s first snow of the new year closed the runway at East Midlands Airport on Saturday night.

And forecasters are warning temperatures across Notts will continue to dip below freezing in the coming days.

With ice expected on the roads, safety groups and insurers are warning people to be extra careful when driving.

The RAC is asking drivers to make sure they have warm clothes and a fully charged mobile phone in their cars.

Nottinghamshire County Council will be gritting roads on Sunday night when temperatures could drop to -2°C.

The Met Office predicts that light snow or sleet might fall tonight. The weather service is advising you to expect frost and temperatures as low as -3°C for the next week.
