Alan Hardy’s Notts County takeover has been delayed, with reports suggesting a loan is the sticking point.

The local businessman was due to complete the takeover yesterday ahead of the clash with local rivals Mansfield Town on Satuday (January 15).

But the deal has now hit a snag, which BBC Radio Nottingham reports is related to a £1m loan the club had arranged with the Haydn Green estate.

Lawyers representing Mr Hardy and Mr Trew are continuing negotiations.

Responding to Notts fans via his personal Twitter account, Mr Hardy said: “Really sorry for the radio silence. Still trying desperately to structure long term financial security for this great football club. Standby.”

Mr Hardy has previously changed his Twitter bio to describe himself as “Chairman and owner of Notts County FC” but this has now been removed.

But there is still hope for County fans with Mr Hardy tweeting on Tuesday morning: “Believe me, I have only one item on my to-do list today.”
