Hustle and bustle at Nottingham’s music festival takeover

Thousands of music lovers will fill the streets of Nottingham for this year’s Hockley Hustle music festival on Sunday.

One of Nottingham’s biggest multi-venue music events is returning for its seventh edition as part of what’s being dubbed “Big October” in Nottingham as 15 big events are held in the ciry inside a month.

The Hockley Hustle Festival will have more than 200 acts spread across the city, with performances from Scorzayzee at Broadway, Natalie Duncan at JamCafe, and Ady Suleiman at Brewdog.

Festival marketing manager, Ash Dilks, said: “Last year was the comeback year for us, we proved that we could really get Hockley buzzing with over 3,000 attendees at the festival.

“Now we’re firmly back on the map we’ve consolidated things a little focusing on quality acts in a more compact area”.

We have a music scene to be proud of in the city

New to this year’s festival are Capoeria performances, the Hip Hop Chip Shops, Japanese pop up, jugglers, fire breathers, belly dancing and the Masterchef finalist, Pete Hewitt.

Creative Quarter board member, Cllr Nick Mcdonald, said: “We have a music scene to be proud of in the city and The Hustle shows it at its best. Much of the proceeds also go to deserving local charities so hat’s off to all those who make it happen”.

Money raised from the event will help support several local charities.

As well as music there are street performances including to Samba bands with road closures on Broad Street and Carlton Street.

Tickets are £15 on the day, and can be exchanged for an official wristband at the Lace Market square at 11am or after 6pm from the Broadway Cinema.

Spread across 19 venues and 21 stages, a map of where to find each performance can be found on the Hockley Hustle website.
