Man taken to hospital after armed police surround Arnold flats

Armed police officers were called to a block of flats in Arnold following a report of a person armed with a weapon.

Nottinghamshire Police received the report at 12.15pm today (Wednesday September 12) of an incident at Jacobs Court on Coppice Road.

The road was closed at the junction with Rolleston Drive and the emergency services surrounded the building.

At around 5.20pm officers said the incident had “been resolved” and one man had been taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre.

Officers had cordoned off the block of flats and evacuated residents following the report. Ambulance crews and the police helicopter were also at the scene.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said at the time: “Officers have evacuated Jacobs Court as a precautionary measure and we’re advising members of the public to avoid the area while officers deal with the incident.

“A cordon is in place and we like to reassure people that we do not believe there’s any risk to the wider public.”

The incidenaffected some bus services and Nottingham City Transport have said its Lime 56 and 59 routes are being diverted.
