Notts family who could be witnesses in Australian murder case are found

Cheryl Grimmer disappeared when she was just three years old from a beach in New South Wales, Australia
Australian detectives investigating the murder of a three-year-old girl almost 50 years ago have found a Nottinghamshire family who who could be key witnesses after a media appeal.
Toddler Cheryl Grimmer went missing from a shower block at a New South Wales beach back in 1970.
Last month, officers charged a 63-year-old Melbourne man with the abduction and murder of Cheryl at Fairy Meadow Beach in Wollongong.

Wollongong detectives announced last week they were stil trying to locate a family that provided crucial statements to police at the beach on January 12 1970, the day Cheryl disappeared.
Peter William Aubrey Goodyear, then aged 37, his wife, Mavis, and daughters, Karen, aged six, and Jannette, aged five, were living at the Fairy Meadow Commonwealth Hostel at the time.
The Goodyears later returned home to England and were last believed to be living in Oxton in Nottinghamshire.
Police now say the family have been found.
New South Wales Police said in a statement: “Through inquiries with Interpol and assistance from media outlets in Nottinghamshire, England, strike force investigators have been provided with details for the family and will be making further inquiries.”

It is believed members of the family were found still living in Notts after returning home here.
