A brass plaque has appeared on a bench overlooking the City Ground mocking Nottingham Forest’s recent managerial record.
The plaque has appeared on the bench on the north bank of the River Trent, opposite the ground, following the sacking of Philippe Montanier 10 days ago.
The sign reads: “Nottingham Forest Official Club Bench. Reserved for the Manager. Maximum stay no more than 10 months. Please make yourself uncomfortable.”
Since current owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi took control of the club in 2012, the Reds have seen seven managers come and go at the City Ground.
Prank group The Brass Monkeys have claimed responsibility for the plaque.
The group says they combat “unfair actions and corporate cruelty with humour and bits of rectangular metal and public furniture”.
Nottingham Forest recent managerial record:
- Steve Cotterill: 1 day
- Sean O’Driscoll: 159 days
- Alec McLeish: 40 days
- Billy Davies: 410 days
- Stuart Pearce: 215 days
- Dougie Freedman: 406 days
- Philippe Montanier: 201 days
- Average lifespan of a Nottingham Forest manager: 205 days or 6.7 months
This is not the first time the organisation has targeted benches in Nottingham.
A plaque previously appeared on a bench next to the Rushcliffe Civic Centre that read: “This bench is subject to a £100 bench tax. Robin Hood and his Merry Men stole from the rich to give to the poor. Rushcliffe Borough Council steal from the poor to give to the rich.”
