Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will make their first joint official engagement in Nottingham this week, it has been announced.

The couple will be in the city this Friday (December 1), just three days after announcing they are to marry.

Kensington Palace tweeted on Tuesday afternoon (November 28): “Prince Harry and Ms. Markle will undertake their first official engagements together in Nottingham this Friday.

“Prince Harry is looking forward to introducing Ms Markle to a community that has become very special to him.”

They will visit a Terrence Higgins Trust World Aids Day charity fair where they will meet representatives of organisations supporting people living with HIV/AIDS.

Both will also meet staff and mentors at Nottingham Academy about the Full Effect programme, which works to prevent young people from turning to violence and crime.

The couple also announced on Tuesday that the wedding will be held at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in May.

Friday will be Prince Harry’s fifth official visit to the city in as many years.

He was last in town in February, when he visited Full Effect.

The organisation was created in 2014 and supports young people in St Ann’s in Nottingham.

Watch: Harry won more hearts in Nottingham on his last visit in February.

This visit was his second to the city in less than four months. The prince is know to have stopped off on the area on unofficial visits on other occasions.

American actress Ms Markle, 36, a protestant, will be baptised and confirmed before the wedding, the palace added on Tuesday.

She also intends to become a British citizen and will work towards it in the coming years.
