Clifton’s own Jake Bugg has announced a Nottingham date on his solo acoustic tour of Britain.

He will play at the Royal Concert Hall on Friday March 2 2018 after extending his tour into next year.

Bugg had not included a Nottingham date on his 2017 tour through November.

He spoke to Iain Chambers on Wednesday (September 20) before playing an intimate gig for Sofar at Meadow Lane, the home of his supported football club Notts County.

Jake said: “I’ve just done a new record but I’m always writing and recording – I think it’s going alright, it’s hard to tell right now as it’s so early though.

“People are always going to want to hear songs from the first album and I’ll always play those songs but I think this one ranks OK among all four of the albums I’ve done.

“I’ve never considered myself to be a good singer or anything – I just used to practice in my bedroom and sing a load of different stuff.

“I’d sing Johnny Cash and The Beatles and stuff like that but I’m always trying to improve my voice – it’s not the strongest point of mine really.”

Jake Bugg considers himself to be ‘more of a writer’.

He said: “There’s always going to be a better singer and a better guitar player out there so I guess there’s more individuality in my songs.

“Usually the intimate gigs are the more nerve-wracking ones as you can see everyone and if you make a mistake it’s a lot more obvious.

“I love being on the bigger stages but I like the intimate ones too – when I’ve played in Japan in smaller rooms, they can be really quiet and I always forget the words or something because I can’t believe how quiet they are; it’s mad.”

Tickets go on sale for the event on Friday (September 29).
