A man who died after being hit by a train in Nottinghamshire has been identified as a 22 year-old from Sheffield.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the Robin Hood Line near Shirebrook on Wednesday morning.

His death is not being treated as suspicious

A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “We were called at 11am on Wednesday following reports of a person being hit by a train.

“Colleagues from Derbyshire Constabulary and East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended but the person, who has now been identified as a 22 year-old man from the Sheffield area, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious with his family having been informed and officers will now be preparing a report for the coroner.”

East Midlands Trains delayed some services between Worksop and Nottingham at the time of the incident, and replaced others with bus services.
