Dougie Freedman aiming for strong end to the season

Dougie Freedman hopes to end the season in winning fashion, starting with Blackburn this coming weekend, following on from signing a new two-year deal as Nottingham Forest manager.

Now the formalities of the contract are dealt with, Freedman’s first task is to turn around The Reds’ form after losing four out of the last five.

Freedman believes that with the new contract giving him greater stability, the last three games are the season are crucial building blocks moving forward.

“I am very pleased and very proud to get a new contract even though I hadn’t been worried about it over the past couple of weeks after talking to the Chairman,” he said.

“Fawaz has outlined his plans and now it is up to me to put them in place and I am confident I can do that by getting on with real business now.

“The contract gives me the chance to plan for the long term and I think that is what a lot of success is built on in the football world nowadays.

Saturday’s trip to Blackburn has little riding with both sides out of the play off chase but Freedman isn’t taking the opposition lightly.

“We have done our planning and know what we need to do to win the game which I am confident we will come out of with a result.”
