Flood warnings issued for River Trent after heavy downpour

Flood warnings by the Environment Agency have been issued for the River Trent after the heavy rainfall, a yellow weather warning is active till 3pm.

Drivers are urged to take extra care whilst travelling on the wet roads, and some routes are expected to be flooded in places.

The yellow weather warning is expected to stay in place until 3pm today.

It means people should ‘be aware’ and prepare for disruption to travel.

A Met Office forecaster, said: “There has been a yellow weather warning issued for Nottinghamshire after the rainfall, persistent rain is likely to continue throughout the day.

“Drivers should be careful especially during rush hour, the warning will be until 3pm when the rain is expected to ease off.”

Notts County tweeted a picture of what the rain had done to the pitch.

Later today it is expected to be cloudy with heavy and persistent rain still possible in places throughout Nottinghamshire after the worst of the wet weather clears.
