His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, died this morning.
He passed away peacefully at Windsor Castle. Her Majesty the Queen says she feels “deep sorrow” at his death. They had been married for 73 years.
The Prince had spent a month in hospital this year after feeling unwell. He needed treatment for an infection and heart condition but was discharged last month.
More announcements will be made soon. The Royal Family say they “join with people around the world in mourning his loss”.
