East Midlands Airport is in top three for flight punctuality

New figures compiled by the Civil Aviation Authority reveal that East Midlands Airport is in the top three nationally for flights running on time.

The data shows that 85 per cent of flights left within 15 minutes of their planned departure times between October 2014 and February this year.

The news has been welcomed by Nottingham City Council.

Dave Trimble, Nottingham City Council’s portfolio holder for leisure and culture said: “It’s always good to try and improve on efficiency because it impacts on how people feel about their overall trip – we want their whole experience in Nottingham to be great.”

The airport was in the top three every month with other top performing airports including London City, Newcastle and Belfast International whilst Gatwick was rated the worst for punctuality at 74 per cent.

An EMA spokeswoman said: “It is incredibly important to us to ensure that the customer journey through EMA is as efficient as possible and we work heard with our partners to ensure that any disruption is kept to a minimum.
