Nottinghamshire Police arrested a student after a teacher at Emmanuel School in West Bridgford suffered suspected knife wounds.
Officers were called to the school on Gresham Park Road on Wednesday at 1:30pm.
A 16 year old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, he was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.
“Increasingly if you have a difficult pupil the likelihood is that there will be some kind of outburst against the teacher.”

The teacher received a minor injury but didn’t require any medical attention.
Susie Artis, the Assistant Secretary for Nottingham City NUT said: “Our members report a rise in what I would call incidents of abuse, not serious with weapons but physical pushing and shoving and verbal abuse.”

This incident occurred the day before a pupil was arrested in Bradford after stabbing a teacher at Dixons Kings academy.
A 14 year old boy has since appeared at Bradford Magistrates Court charged with attempted murder.
