Nottingham tram services have returned to normal after outages caused by a tree falling on the line.

Services were disrupted to and from Toton Lane on Tuesday after the incident near Cator Lane.

Windy weather on Tuesday morning is thought to have caused the problem and led on to power shortages on the Toton Lane branch of the network throughout most of the day.

Services were returned by early Wednesday with some delays, and the whole line was operating a normal service by mid-morning on Wednesday.

In an earlier update posted on Facebook NET had said: “Due to a fallen tree on the tracks we are unable to run a service from Toton Lane to NG2.

“We are working as quickly as possible to resume this service. If your journey is urgent, please seek alternative transport and we will keep you updated on the situation throughout.

“Any passengers wishing to travel to Beeston, we would recommend departing the tram at Nottingham Station and either using the train or bus as this is the best place for ongoing connections.”

During the problems the company ran a tram shuttle service between Toton Lane and Cator Lane and a taxi service between Cator Lane and Meadows Way West.

East Midlands Trains accepted tram tickets from Nottingham Station to Beeston and NCT allowed tram tickets on Orange line 36 from Nottingham to Chilwell.
