Family pay tribute to Nottinghamshire man killed outside Spanish nightclub

A devastated family have paid tribute to a Nottingham man killed while working abroad in Spain.

Nikki Robinson, aged 30, of Hucknall, died following an incident outside a nightclub in Catalonia in the early hours of Friday, June 21.

The incident is being investigated by the Catalan Police, who said they were called to reports of a fight at around 4am in the town of Calella, around 30 miles north of Barcelona.

Mr Robinson died at the scene. Catalan Police said they arrested a man a few hours after the incident and an investigation is ongoing.

Family and Friends of Nikki, who worked as a carpenter for sport event company Evolution Sport, said he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones including his dog Bulla and enjoyed travelling.

He’d been working in the country for Red Bull ahead of the Spanish Formula One Grand Prix, held on June 23.

Nottinghamshire Police are supporting the family with specially trained officers on behalf of the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office and Spanish law enforcement. 

In a statement, the family said: “We are truly devastated at the loss of our beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, and great friend Nikki Robinson.

“Nikki loved his job and had the great opportunity to travel the world with lifelong friends with whom he worked alongside, made possible by Evolution Sport.

“When Nikki was at home, he loved spending time with his dog and his family; particularly his Mamma Alice and was in the process of renovating a camper van for more adventures.”
