A full set of midweek fixtures brought mixed results for the city’s three football teams on a night which saw Nottingham Forest lost for the first time under Dougie Freedman.
Meanwhile, Notts County and Mansfield Town both eased their relegation fears, in League One and League Two respectively, with away victories.
Here is a run down of the games from last night.
Forest were the only of the three teams to lose last night, going down to a 2-1 loss away to Charlton Athletic, in what was their first loss under the reign of Dougie Freedman.
Charlton’s Frederic Bulot was the difference between the two teams as the Gabon international netted in the seventh minute, before Michail Antonion equalised in the 14th.
Bulot wasn’t done there though as his 38th minute goal proved to be the winner, leaving Forest 11 points off the play-offs with their next game being against league leaders Middlesbrough.
Notts County
Fortunes for County were much better as they picked up just their third win of 2015 thanks to a Paddy McCourt second half winner away to Colchester.
In a game dominated by the two goalkeepers, Sam Walker and Roy Carroll were both on hand to keep out a number of first half efforts from both sides.
A late clearance off the line by County’s Blair Adams ensured the three points in the relegation battle, to move the away side six points clear of the drop zone.
Mansfield Town
The last Nottinghamshire side to play last night, Mansfield Town followed the same pattern as Notts County, recording a 1-0 away victory at Newport County.
Reggie Lambe scored for the second game in succession as they stretched the gap above the drop zone to seven points.
Mansfield will be looking to build on their good form which has seen them beat Dagenham and Redbridge and Newport in their last two games.
