Forest Fields murder: Two more men arrested

Detectives investigating the murder of a 21-year-old man in Forest Fields have now arrested three men.

A 23-year-old was arrested late on Thursday afternoon and a 21-year-old was arrested in the evening.

Then early on Friday morning an 18-year-old man was also arrested.

All three men have been detained on suspicion of murder after the victim, named locally as Aqib Mazhar, died after being stabbed in Russell Road on Wednesday night.

Det Supt Kate Meynell of Notts Police said: “We are working quickly and effectively to arrest those involved in this incident.

“More than 80 officers are involved in this murder investigation and all are working tirelessly to bring those responsible for Wednesday night’s violence to justice.”

A force spokesman added in a statement: “Neighbourhood officers have been in contact with mosques and local religious leaders and would like to thank local communities and the public generally for their co-operation with this ongoing investigation.”
